Signed by Nicolás Carlos Gómez de Cervantes, subsequently Bishop Guadalajara. To this is appended the unsigned draft of a petition, Mexico City, May 3, 1696, evidently addressed to the King of Spain, protesting undue civil interference in the management of funds for benefices and pious works.
